Diego Costa to learn his fate on Monday as FA could impose ban for antics against Arsenal

Diego Costa could be handed a three-match ban by FA for his incident on Saturday

The Football Association has confirmed they will wait to receive Mike Dean’ s match report before deciding on whether Chelsea striker Diego Costa will face retrospective action, The Telegraph reports. Mike Dean has drawn a lot of attention when he dismissed Arsenal defender Gabriel on the brink of half-time break in Saturday’ s EPL fixture.

The Brazillian-born-Spanish striker has made himself well known in English football since his arrival in the summer of 2014. A lot of questions has been asked about his antics on the pitch and he was at the heart of the controversy yet again at Stamford Bridge when he slapped Koscielny in the face which has left unnoticed by referee Mike Dean. This led to Gabriel Paulista’s reaction that eventually gave him the marching orders before half-time.

Many of us would agree that Diego Costa clearly provoked two of Arsenal’s defenders by hitting one of them on the face and then bumping him with his chest. Paulista and Costa then went on to exchange words for almost five minutes.

The controversy was however not on the fact that Costa was booked in the original incident, but whether the referee saw it and still chose to decide to keep him on the pitch. Diego Costa can consider himself lucky for now, but he may face serious punishment by the FA after investigation.

Dean's report is likely to be submitted on Monday.

Wenger wants Costa punished for his antics

Arsene Wenger has once again lost out the battle against Mourinho on Saturday’s derby match. The Frenchman is however, not impressed by how Costa gets away with his actions game after game.

He was furious with the referee and believes the Chelsea striker should have been sent off twice before Paulista was shown the red card.

"I wouldn't like to be Mike Dean tonight because I cannot understand the situations. Twice he (Costa) should have been sent off," Wenger told BT Sport.

"Look at the situation well before the cross comes in, he hits him (Laurent Koscielny) in the face on purpose.

"He makes a fuss of it. In every game there is aggravation but he gets away with it because of the weakness of the referee.

"We are guilty because we gave in on that and responded to it. We knew before the game that he was only looking for that and when he touches him he goes down like he has been killed."

Arsenal face North London rivals Tottenham at the White Hart Lane in their next Premier League fixture while Chelsea take on Newcastle United at the St. James Park.
