Eden Hazard admits he deserves to be dropped from Chelsea team

Eden Hazard was the Premier League Player of the Year last season

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has admitted he has not been at his best this season and is in the worst form of his life after failing to score in his first 10 games of the season, Mirror reports. Hazard, along with his teammates, have endured a difficult start to the new campaign and claims Jose Mourinho has been right to drop him from the starting lineup.

Last season, during this time of the year, Chelsea were in scintillating form, sitting comfortably at the top of the league table. The Belgian was responsible for leading his side’s attacking force throughout the whole season, which saw them score 109 goals in all competitions. The Blues were crowned the English champions at the end of the campaign and Hazard bagged the Premier League player of the Year.

However, this season hasn’t gone well for the 24-year-old, who is on a goal drought and has managed to add only two assists to his name in 11 appearances, a slump that has contributed to the West London club’s slide down the table where they currently sit in 16th place.

Mourinho even dropped him from the starting lineup for the Champions League away trip to Porto before restoring him for the match against Southampton which ended in another defeat for Chelsea this season.

We thought win against Arsenal would help us: Hazard

“This is the first time in my career that I have had such a difficult spell like this,” Hazard said in an interview. “I can’t really explain it. All I know is that I will need to work hard in order to bounce back.”

“At Chelsea we have concerns both as a team and individually. We all thought that our recent win against Arsenal would give us lift-off – but instead we fell straight back into our bad ways.

“I was left on the bench against Porto in the Champions League, and I am no longer immune to being left out. You can be untouchable when you play well, and that has not been the case with me.”

He further added: “I think the manager wanted to send me a message by making me a sub. I don’t read everything he says, but he explains everything.”

“I am not too worried for him – Mourinho is the best coach in the world when it comes to dealing with pressure. I am an optimist, and I know I can learn a lot from tough spells.

“I hope to come back stronger, and I am ready to play and do my best. I see my two games for Belgium this week as a launchpad for my season with Chelsea.

"I am looking forward to the Euro 2016 finals, but will only start thinking about them once the domestic season is over.”
