Eden Hazard admits he'll never be a "goal machine" like Messi and Ronaldo

Eden Hazard is yet to score for Chelsea in the Barclays Premier League 2015/16 season

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has admitted he can never match Messi and Ronaldo’s incredible goalscoring tally of ‘50-60’ goals a season. He admits he is not in search of records and is more than happy to score 15-20 goals a season, according to Sky Sports.

The Belgian international played an integral part in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign last season, netting 19 goals from 52 games in all competitions for the Blues. Hazard, who’s now 24, also went on to claim the PFA Player Of The Year award at the end of the season. His stellar performances for the West London side earned him comparisons with Barcelona genius Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 57 and 61 goals respectively last term.

Ronaldo, the current FIFA Ballon d’Or holder, recently lost out on the race to Messi to bag the UEFA 2014/15 Best Player in Europe award. However, the Chelsea forward insists he still has a long way to go before being considered in their league.

"I ask myself what I can do to become like Messi and Ronaldo, and score 50 or 60 goals in a season," Hazard said in an interview with Sport/Foot Magazine in Belgium.

"I try but I realize that I will never be a true scorer. It is not in me. It is mainly mental. Sometimes I still think after a goal, 'that's enough'."

He then added, "At 2-0, not thinking that is enough for example. Sometimes I still think after a goal, 'that's enough.’”

I will be very happy with 15-20 goals each season

Hazard also said he is happy with his current rate of scoring, averaging just under a goal in every three games since joining Chelsea.

“I'm not in search of records like some other players - if I can score between 15 and 20 goals each season, I will be very happy. I'm at a peak of my career but I want to become even better every day. I'm not there yet," he concluded.

The 24-year old has struggled to emulate his form from last season in the new Premier League campaign. Manager Jose Mourinho’s team has had a stuttering start to their season, picking up just four points from opening four matches. The Blues have suffered a heavy defeat away to Manchester City - final scoreline was 3-0 and a disappointing loss to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian is yet to score in four games with Chelsea currently sitting 13th in the table and are on course in defending their title.
