Edgar Davids to Crystal Palace: A transfer gone unnoticed

Edgar Davids: Another "feather" in his cap

In a move which would have grabbed all headlines if things would not have been the way they are now, Dutch legend Edgar Davids who has a C.V worth being envied has agreed to come out of hibernation and has signed a unique deal with championship side Crystal Palace. The shock return is sure to grab eyeballs in the near future.

Edgar Davids has an impressive resume having played for top teams like AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur. But he has not played a competitive match for about two years having last played for Ajax two seasons ago. Yet the 37 year old veteran insists on making a fresh return to football and has therefore signed for Crystal Palace giving indications that the move is not for money but for a change.

The midfielder during his playing days was regarded as one of the top players, both in terms of play and style. The deal signed at Selhurst Park is a “pay as you play deal“ which is understandable considering the lack of his match fitness.

The deal marks a new chapter in the history of the London based club who had earlier suffered financial turmoil and narrowly escaped relegation last season.
