English Football: Candidates for the PFA Award 2012-13

We look at the contenders for the PFA award for 2012-13 season. Below are a few players who can grab this award for the current season.

Robin van Persie, Manchester United

The man has been an immediate impact for Manchester United, helping them to get back the title from city rivals. He changed clubs, but his form remained the same. He introduced himself with style at the club. The current holder of PFA Award has another chance to bag this again. Though off late he has not been scoring goals, it looks like he’ll start scoring once again. Also, he can chase Suarez for the Golden Boot this time. The lead of 15 points which Manchester United have presently can be credited to van Persie. Van Persie has scored against all big clubs this time, which may further help him to grab this award.

2. Juan Mata, Chelsea

This player has improved and matured a lot for Chelsea this season. After playing just one season with Chelsea, he’s adapted to life at England very quickly. He’s another deserving candidate for this precious award. He pulls the strings for Chelsea; he can be credited for Hazard’s and Oscar’s great start for the club. With 10 goals and 10 assists to his name in the current season, it just shows how he has improved drastically at the club. Also, at the start of the season, his link up play with Oscar and Hazard had fired Chelsea at the top of the table.

3. Gareth Bale, Tottenham Hotspur

The 23 year old Welsh winger is having the best season and in the best form of his life. Also, he is often compared with Ryan Giggs as the next Welsh wizard. Bale has helped Tottenham to maintain 3rd place. And if he is able to help Spurs gain Champions League spot this time, he’ll become Tottenham’s hero. He has been unstoppable with 17 goals scored already and 3 assists to his name. Bale has been Spurs’ go-to man. With the form that Bale is having, it shows that he is another potential candidate for this award.

4. Luis Suarez, Liverpool

The Uruguayan has really turned up for Liverpool this season. With 22 goals already to his name, he is not only in the race for the Golden Boot but also for the PFA Award. He has been the man to go for Brendan Rodgers this season. The 26 year old has been the candidate for this award from a long time. With so many goals scored, what he lacks is assists, with only 3 assists to his name in the whole season. He is another player up there to grab this award. But his antics may also affect the chances of his getting the award.
