Keeping the Blues flag held high

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes that his side have still got room for improvement, despite being in great form of late. The Blues have won four games on the trot and have consolidated their place as early favourites.

However, the Italian isn’t resting on laurels just yet as he thinks that it is not wise for him to make assumption with the current standings.

“At this moment it’s not important for us to look at the table,” said the former Juventus man after the match.

“We are in a good position but what’s more important is to work very hard and trust the work will improve us. Sometimes you can win a game but you don’t see it happening in the right way.”

The former Italy boss also opined that he is witnessing a lot of positives with his side’s performances of late.

“Now, game by game, I’m seeing a lot of possibilities, a lot of positives, and I have confidence because we can improve. We can improve a lot and must improve a lot.

“For now this performance really pleased me. I saw great commitment and work rate, with the ball and without it, and great unity. That is the right way to reach great satisfaction in this championship.”

Confidence is increasing in the Chelsea side

Conte was also impressed with how his star players have responded under him. When Jose Mourinho was at helm, the likes of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa had lost their spark. However, ever since the former Italy national team boss took over the reins at Stamford Bridge, it seems as though the faded shine of the stars is back blazing.

“For four games we have kept clean sheets…that’s fantastic because it means the confidence is increasing,” Conte added.

“When you see Eden and Diego, and Pedro, working so hard, very hard, during the game, you are happy. You are happy because they are strikers and, usually, it’s a bit difficult for the strikers to work for the team.”

With four consecutive wins, Conte’s men find themselves sitting at fourth spot with 22 points under their name. They are only one point behind league leaders, Manchester City, and two points above the much acclaimed Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea’s next clash in the league is a highly anticipated encounter against Ronald Koeman’s high-flying Everton, who are currently placed sixth with 18 points from 10 games.
