Chelsea 1-1 West Ham United: Player Ratings

Chelsea v West Ham United - Premier League
It was a disappointing evening for the Blues

Goal Scorers: Azpilicueta (36'), Chicharito (73')

Chelsea looked like they would get their 4th win in 2018 but, the ex-Manchester United player made sure it was not today.

The Blues started off brightly and dominated much of the game today. The players created a couple of chances, but could only manage to find the back of the net once with a corner from Morata who found his fellow countryman, Azpilicueta as he put the ball into the net.

David Moyes' decision to send Javier Hernandez in the 70th minute, proved to be the turning point, as he scored within 3 minutes.

This result means that Chelsea are now 10 points behind 4th-place Tottenham, and West Ham move 6 points clear of the relegation zone, with just 6 games remaining.

Here are the player ratings from the game.

West Ham United

Chelsea v West Ham United - Premier League
Chicharito loves scoring against Chelsea

Joe Hart - 7.5/10

Hart could hardly be blamed for the Azpilicueta goal but other than that, the English International made good saves to ensure that his side leaves the Bridge with at least a point. He also did very well to deny Giroud the winner in the final minutes of the game.

Declan Rice - 7/10

A good game for the Irishman who was always on his feet, and quick to react to any danger. Got the better of Morata for most of the game.

Angelo Ogbonna - 7/10

A great game for Ogbonna today. He was solid in the defense and intercepted/deflected threats time and again throughout the game.

Aaron Cresswell - 5/10

Not the best game for Cresswell today. Chelsea found it more comfortable attacking through his flanks and almost scored a 2nd right after the start of the 2nd half. He was substituted through an injury.

Pablo Zabaleta - 5.5/10

With the task of containing Hazard, the Argentine did well, given his age. When one-on-one with the Belgian, the latter had quick feet and was able to get around the defender and found space.

Cheikhou Kouyaté - 5/10

Kante got the better of Kouyate in the midfield. The latter never really got himself settled in the park and hence had a disappointing evening.

Mark Noble - 5.5/10

Spent most of the time trying to find the 'right' ball on the flanks so as to stretch Chelsea from the deep, but ended up spending in the middle of the park for possession.

Arthur Masuaku - 6/10

A rather mixed game for Masuaku today. He was quite at times and for the rest, he seemed to do a little too much all at once.

Edimilson Fernandes - 5/10

Fernandes was little too impatient, as he tried to make something happen early on with the ball, in the process being reckless and rightly booked.

Joao Mario - 6/10

After the last week's performance, Moyes would have hoped for something similar today as well. Without much possession, Mario seemed ineffective and struggled in the final third.

Marko Arnautovic - 6/10

With the Hammers not getting much of the ball, Arnautovic was left isolated up front. However, he did well to find Chicharito with what seemed to be a hamstring problem.

Substitutes

Patrice Evra - 6/10

The former Manchester United player was solid in the defence since coming on in the 64th minute.

Javier Hernandez - 7/10

Chicharito does what he loves doing, scoring past Chelsea. The former United player came off the bench and scored almost immediately.

Josh Cullen - N/A

With just 5 minutes to go, Cullen didn't have time to make an impression.

Chelsea

Chelsea v West Ham United - Premier League
Azpilicueta's goal was not enough to give Chelsea the full 3 points today

Thibaut Courtois - 6/10

The Belgian returned back from an injury, was rarely threatened until Chicharito came off the bench and scored. This could have been an ideal return back into the side for the Chelsea keeper but it was just not meant to be.

Cesar Azpilicueta - 7/10

Another link up with fellow countryman, Morata, but it was the defender who scored this time, his 2nd in the league this season. He was decent on the counter and also strong in the defence.

Gary Cahill - 5/10

The Chelsea captain made his way back into the starting lineup after a few weeks. He had a decent game until he gave away a poor header which lead to the equaliser.

Antonio Rudiger - 6.5/10

With each gameweek passing by, Rudiger looks more and more comfortable in the back 3. He was lively and showed determination in the game and was strong in the defence as well.

Victor Moses - 5/10

Moses really needs to step up his game in the final third. He had a couple of chances but didn't make the most of it, as has been the case throughout this season.

N'Golo Kante - 7.5/10

Yet another splendid performance from the Frenchman today. Though West Ham offered a little while attacking, Kante made sure to break the play whenever they threatened.

Cesc Fabregas - 5.5/10

A frustrating evening for the Spanish International. Fabregas provided little threat while attacking and was quite in the midfield until Giroud came on when he started providing some balls to his chest.

Marcos Alonso - 6/10

Alonso almost scored the winner but, was denied by a fingertip save from Hart. The Spaniard however, didn't provide the usual width on the leftt side.

Willian - 7/10

Another game where the Brazilian was lively and busy throughout the game. He had some decent chances to score and also linked up well with the front 3.

Alvaro Morata - 6/10

Slowly but steadily, Morata seems to be regaining his confidence. He scored twice only for both of them to be ruled offside and his linkup play was also good.

Eden Hazard - 6.5/10

Hazard does everything just so well, but you feel that he should start taking shots instead of going for that final pass, which is frustrating at times. The Belgian was lively in the park and was very busy.

Substitutes

Pedro - 5/10

The Spanish International tried to provide that extra bit of spark but just couldn't as a couple of attacks broke down at his feet.

Oliver Giroud - 6/10

With a little over 10 minutes to go, Giroud had a decent performance. He also came close to scoring for the Blues.
