Manchester City

Liverpool v Manchester City - Premier League
City suffered their first Premier League loss of the season.

Ederson - 4/10

Ederson had a torrid time in front of goal as he saw four goals scored past him. His positioning can surely be questioned for the first goal he conceded and a wayward clearance from him saw Mohamed Salah lob the ball over him for Liverpool's fourth.

Kyle Walker - 5/10

Walker started the game in positive fashion, making a number of interceptions and providing the diagonal ball that resulted in City's equaliser. The second half saw Walker's performance deteriorate as he gave away possession cheaply and was often troubled by the pace of Mane.

John Stones - 4/10

Stones was often troubled by the pace and trickery of Liverpool's front three. The English international was easily dispossessed by Firmino who pounced on the mistake to make the score 2-1 in favour of the hosts.

Nicolas Otamendi - 4/10

Otamendi was very uncomfortable while dealing with the pace of Salah. The Argentine was unlucky to see his header hit the bar and his evening got worse when he gave away the ball to Salah during the build-up to Liverpool's third goal.

Fabian Delph - 3/10

Delph started the game in average fashion but had to be withdrawn at the half-hour mark due to injury.

Fernandinho - 4/10

Fernandinho lost possession on numerous occasions and was the culprit for losing the ball to Firmino who assisted Oxlade-Chamberlain for Liverpool's first goal of the evening.

Ilkay Gundogan - 6/10

Gundogan enjoyed a decent game against Liverpool where he performed the basic tasks to great perfection and provided the link between attack and defence. His hard work was awarded when he slotted in City's third, eventually setting up an exciting finish.

Kevin De Bruyne - 5/10

De Bruyne put in a number of teasing crosses that were dealt well by Liverpool's defence. The Belgian's impact wasn't felt in the second half as he was well marshalled by Liverpool's defence.

Raheem Sterling - 4/10

Sterling experienced a torrid time at Anfield as he was constantly dispossessed by Andy Robertson and failed to create any impact for the leaders. He was eventually replaced by Bernardo Silva in the 71st minute.

Leroy Sane - 7/10

Sane was arguably City's best performer against Liverpool. The German international posed problems for the right side of Liverpool's defence and scored the equalising goal when his shot beat Loris Karius on his near post.

Sergio Aguero - 5/10

Aguero looked like an isolated figure for most parts of the game and did not receive enough supply from City's playmakers. The Argentine was well marshalled by Matip who did not allow to have a sniff at goal.

Substitutions:

Danilo - 4/10

Danilo replaced Fabian Delph in the first half. The Brazilian looked vulnerable defensively and was caught ball watching as Firmino's chip hit the post and went over the line. Swifter action could have prevented the ball from crossing the line.

Bernardo Silva - 5/10

Silva replaced Sterling in the second half and scored City's second in the 84th minute. Overall, Silva had a decent outing.
