Wigan forward Hugo Rodallega has claimed that many clubs are vying for his signature, including bigwigs like Arsenal, Sevilla, Villarreal and Everton. Although the player admitted that his immediate future lies with Wigan and bringing them forward, he confessed that he admired the way Arsene Wenger’s side played their football.

Rodallega claims many teams interested

Talking to US Latino, Rodallega spoke positively about Arsenal and their free-flowing football, but stated that his loyalties lay with Wigan for the moment. He remained non-committal about extending his contract however, which has one year left to go on it. He said-

“I like playing and I have many teams where I could play but for now my future is with Wigan. I have a year left on my contract, but I [would] go to another team if the opportunity arises, and well, I’ve always liked Arsenal.”

He also revealed that many teams had enquired about the possibility of signing him, including heavyweights Arsenal. But he said that all these talks were speculation and hearsay at the moment, and nothing concrete had taken place yet.

“There are many teams interested, it’s true. Villarreal, Sevilla, Arsenal also have [had] some interest, Everton of England, but it all is speculation,”

Rodallega has been perhaps the most important cog in Wigan’s wheel over the last two seasons, scoring vital goals and being a strong frontman in their race for survival. Martinez would loathe losing him to any other club and he will surely hope that Rodallega chooses to extend his contract and continue donning the Latics’ colours.

Teams like Arsenal and Sevilla are always in and around the elusive Champions League places, and playing amongst the cream of Europe would certainly come as a temptation to the former Necaxa striker. Stay tuned for more in this regard.
