The major transfer or the talking point of this week has been the appointment of Roy Hodgeson as the coach of Liverpool. Amidst strong rumours and suggestions of Kenny Dalglish taking over the hot seat, the current performance of Roy Hodgeson at Fulham perhaps tilted the scales in favour of the Englishman. He however has a tough job of keeping all the star players intact as well as making good deals to fatten his transfer kitty. After weeks of speculation, Yaya Toure has finally put pen to paper on a five year deal at Eastlands. Although the fee remains undisclosed, the transfer amount is likely to be in the region of £ 28 million according to sources. Toure told the club’s website, www.mcfc.co.uk: “I’m very happy to sign for Manchester City. I love the Premier League and I watch it all the time and City did very well to finish fifth, but I hope we can improve on that by qualifying for the Champions League.”This big signing has was preceded by the capture of Spanish winger David Silva from Valencia for a sum of £ 24 million. Roberto Mancini has further admitted his interest in signing Serbian defender Kolarov from Lazio and Mario Bolatelli from Inter Milan. In the meantime, defending champions Chelsea have secured the signing of Liverpool winger Yossi Benayoun for £ 5 million in what seems to be a replacement for Joe Cole who had been plagued with injuries and released hence. Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti has meanwhile targeted the signing of Kaka in an audacious £ 50 million bid. However, Jose Mourinho is likely to demand one of his former players which is unlikely to happen.Joe Cole looks set to join Tottenham Hotspur after the initial interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal dwindling day by day. Harry Redknapp has been a big fan of the England winger and it is highly likely he would land up at White Hart Lane.
