United played Sergio Romero in goal and Chris Smalling in central defence along with Victor Lindelof, and they played really well against Chelsea. Romero made some good saves in the match and Smalling was quite dependable while making his tackles.

Nemanja Matic was tireless in giving cover to United’s centre-backs and the fullbacks also had a very decent game. Neither of Ashley Young and Luke Shaw went on marauding runs too often, and preferred to stay in their own half. Young defended really well against Hazard, and continues to be one of United’s most consistent players even after 229 matches for them.
Shaw also had no problem in dealing with Pedro. However, the latter managed to deliver a few crosses from the right flank. Still, those attempts were not enough to trouble United, as they continued their good run under the new manager.
