The FA will take no action against Jose Mourinho after the governing body have found him innocent in the Eva Carneiro incident. The Portuguese manager was under scrutiny as he was accused of making abusive and discriminatory comments towards the club’s former doctor.

The FA studied the footage from the 2-2 draw against Swansea in August where the manager had a dispute with the doctor over her decision to take their star player Eden Hazard off. While the manager was alleged to have shouted profane comments directed at Carneiro. The FA, after analyzing audio footage from the incident, announced that the words used do not constitute discriminatory language under FA Rules.

The FA said in a statement, "Following information brought to the attention of the FA regarding Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and alleged discriminatory comments made in the Premier League fixture between Swansea and Chelsea on 8 August, The FA has now concluded an investigation into the matter.

"The matter was brought to the attention of the FA on 8 September and led to the appointment of an independent academic expert in Portuguese linguistics to analyze the footage of the incident which included the audio recording.

“After receiving the report from the expert, the FA is satisfied that the words used do not constitute discriminatory language under FA Rules. Furthermore, both the words used, as translated and analyzed by the independent expert, and the video evidence, do not support the conclusion that the words were directed at any person in particular. Consequently, on the evidence available to it, the FA will take no further action in relation to this matter."

What happened?

Carneiro and Jon Fearn were dropped from the team’s bench after the game against Swansea, as the coach felt the doctors were being "impulsive and naive" following the removal of Eden Hazard.

The 42-year reached the decision of leaving the club after her role at the club was downgraded following the incident – She was not allowed to attend any matches or training sessions after the incident for.

At the time Heather Rabbatts, a board member of the FA expressed her sympathies over Dr. Carneiro’s departure.

Rabatts who is part of the FA’s inclusion advisory board, said "Eva was one of the few very senior women in the game, a highly respected doctor who has acted with professional integrity in difficult circumstances and whose skills have been highly praised by her colleagues, the club and governing bodies."
