Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will have serve a one-match stadium ban and pay a £40,000 fine for his misconduct towards match officials at half-time during his side’s loss to West Ham, the FA declared in an official statement. The Portuguese manager’s assistant Silvino Louro, who was also sent to the stands in the same game, received a warning from the FA.

During the match against West Ham on October 24, Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands at half-time after he apparently attempted to confront referee Jonathan Moss. Ahead of this incident, Mourinho already had a suspended stadium ban from the FA over a previous incident when he criticised refereeing decisions from another game.

The FA released a statement announcing the punishment, it read: “ Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, Jose Mourinho has been given a one-match stadium suspension with immediate effect and fined £40,000.”

The reason stated in the release was as follows: “The Chelsea manager admitted an FA charge of misconduct regarding his language and/or behaviour towards the match officials in or around the dressing room area during half-time of the game against West Ham United on 24 October 2015.”

In the same game, apart from the sending off for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, and the Blues’ boss, one of his staff members Silvino Louro was also sent to the stands. The FA addressed his actions as well.

They stated: “With regard to Chelsea coach Silvino Louro, who denied an FA misconduct charge in relation to the same game, The FA, having considered further representation, withdrew the formal charge of improper conduct but reminded him of his responsibilities.”

Though Mourinho will be on the sidelines in Chelsea’s midweek clash against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League, he will miss out on the match against Stoke City at the Britannia on Saturday.

While a touchline ban would mean that he could still be in the stands and communicate with his deputies on the touchline, a stadium ban suspends all those possibilities as the manager will now not be allowed in the premises of the stadium.

Things can’t seem to get any worse for the defending champions and their boss, and now that every game will count for Mourinho and his team, this could be a massive blow for them in the Premier League. Sitting in 15th position currently, the Blues desperately need to spark their campaign if they are to finish the season in any respectable position.
