Javier Zanetti has played for Inter Milan since 1995.
More than 600 games later, the 40-year-old club legend played his final match for the club at the San Siro this weekend in a 4-1 win over Lazio.
While fans now get accustomed to not seeing him on the pitch again, one fan in particular, wearing a Zanetti shirt, couldn’t handle the moment and invaded the pitch during the game to tell his hero exactly how he felt.
In spite of the fan being taken down by security officials at the stadium, Zanetti still came over to console the fan who was almost in tears. A remarkable gesture!
