Jupp Heynckes is the interim Bayern Munich boss

The big story coming from Germany is that Jupp Heynckes has been appointed as the new Bayern Munich manager. The 72-year-old replaces Carlo Ancelotti at the helm. After Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann were linked with the job, the Bavarians have opted for a short-term solution to guide the team for this season. This will be Heynckes' third stint with Bayern Munich with his final season in 2012/13 yielding the club a famous treble.

Leon Goretzka to stay with Schalke 04 until the end of the season

Sport Bild has reported that contrary to reports, Leon Goretzka will see out the final year of his contract with Schalke 04 and will leave only in the summer on a Bosman transfer. It was reported that Schalke were keen on receiving some amount for the talented midfielder in January but would be more than happy to keep the 22-year-old in their ranks until May. The two Premier League clubs have reportedly decided to try and sign Everton's Ross Barkley in January. The Daily Mirror claims that Chelsea and Spurs are set to go head to head for the signature of Barkley who has entered the final year of his contract. The Englishman wants a move to London and is keen on joining a new club this season. Spurs see him as a talented alternative for Moussa Dembele who is currently struggling with his foot injury.

Liverpool duo to sign new contracts

Liverpool Echo, a trusted source regarding all the news pertaining Jurgen Klopp's men has revealed that the club has offered contract extensions to two Liverpool forwards. The two players in focus being Roberto Firmino and Ben Woodburn. The teenager Woodburn is set to get a huge pay rise once he turns 18 whereas Firmino is expected to sign a new two-year deal which will see him in a red shirt until June 2022.
