Jupp Heynckes is the interim Bayern Munich boss

The big story coming from Germany is that Jupp Heynckes has been appointed as the new Bayern Munich manager. The 72-year-old replaces Carlo Ancelotti at the helm. After Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann were linked with the job, the Bavarians have opted for a short-term solution to guide the team for this season. This will be Heynckes' third stint with Bayern Munich with his final season in 2012/13 yielding the club a famous treble.

Leon Goretzka to stay with Schalke 04 until the end of the season

Sport Bild has reported that contrary to reports, Leon Goretzka will see out the final year of his contract with Schalke 04 and will leave only in the summer on a Bosman transfer. It was reported that Schalke were keen on receiving some amount for the talented midfielder in January but would be more than happy to keep the 22-year-old in their ranks until May. FC Barcelona are said to be leading the race for the German midfielder with Arsenal and Bayern Munich also keeping tabs.
