Fernando Torres should start against Tottenham

Swindon Town v Chelsea - Capital One Cup Third Round

Torres impresses masses with his performance against Swindon

Fernando Torres has proven once again this season that he should be our number one. Nothing against Samuel Eto’o, but Torres gives us a better option.

Against Fulham at the weekend, Torres produced a better performance in twenty or so minutes, compared to the seventy or so minutes Eto’o had in the game.

Last night, his link up play, his movement off the ball, his contribution to the team was top notch. The fact that if the likes of Willian and others hadn’t ignored him standing in space, inside the box, Torres would have scored a hat-trick.

My own personal opinion is that with Fernando Torres, you always know what you are going to get from him. He never stops working, making runs and looking for the ball and again my opinion is that he offers more worth to the team than anyone else, so, why has he been overlooked for Eto’o?

Don’t get me wrong, in a couple of weeks time after Eto’o has had more time to settle and get back to being match fit, he will be a fantastic option for Jose to call upon when required.

Jose, you said it yourself, Eto’o needs time after coming from the Russian league, so why continue to play him?

Do me a favour, stick with Torres and give him the start on Saturday. Surely he has done enough recently, when called upon, to warrant that.

What do you Chelsea fans think? Should Torres start ahead of Eto’o and Ba on Saturday?
