FIFA 17: Predicted player ratings for Juventus

Gianluigi Buffon, Juventus
Buffon is set to see a rise in his FIFA rating after another successful season at Juventus

FIFA 17 is set to release this September and is poised to be the best FIFA game ever. One of the most anticipated games in the world, it boasts a number of fascinating new features. The Frostbite engine is set to deliver authentic, true to life action and introduce fans to characters with full depth and emotion. Another new feature, The Journey, provides the opportunity for a rookie to live out his dream of playing in the Premier League.

The game which features Marco Reus on the cover is set to come out on multiple platforms including PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and others.

Juventus have not always been everyone’s favourite when it comes to FIFA.This is set to change in the coming years, though. The football club have lost Paul Pogba and Alvaro Morata but they have compensated with the signing of Gonzalo Higuain. The emergence of talents like Daniele Rugani ad Mario Lemani have set them in good stead.

On that note, take a look at the expected player ratings for Juventus in FIFA 17

#1 Goalkeepers and Defenders:

One thing Juventus do not experiment with is their defence. Possessing what is possibly the best back 3 plus goalkeeper in the world, Juventus have retained their defensive core for the upcoming campaign as well.

Gianluigi Buffon: 84 → 85

Gianluigi Buffon has been a part of the Juventus set up for the last decade. The Old Lady conceded a mere 20 goals in 38 games last season and can attribute that fact mainly to the Italian goalkeeper. He was also a part of the Italian squad that reached the quarter-finals of the Euro 2016.

With 21 clean sheets in 35 appearances for the Serie-A winners, Buffon’s rating is expected to rise, but at the age of 38, this is expected to be limited to just a point.

Neto: 79 → 78

Neto did not have a major role to play at the club last season, playing second fiddle to Buffon. His performances have been few and far between and hence not worthy of either a significant downgrade or an upgrade. Having made just 3 appearances last season, Neto is expected to be a 78 rated goalkeeper.

Defence

Georgio Chiellini: 86 → 86

Another stalwart at the back, Chiellini like Buffon, had a fantastic season at club as well as at international level. The Italian’s first half of the season was magnificent, but injury cut short his season.

He still managed 25 appearances, but like Buffon, at the age of 32 there is not much room for improvement for the Italian and his rating is expected to remain the same.

Andrea Barzagli: 84→85

Barzagli at the age of 35 seems to show no signs of slowing down. Another integral part of the Juventus defence, Barzagli made 31 appearances for the club from Turin. He also played a major role in integrating youngster Daniele Rugani successfully into the squad.

In a season where the Italian managed more than 20 clean sheets, he also managed to bag just his second career goal for the club. After a successful season, his rating is set to improve by a point.

Alex Sandro: 82 → 82

Sandro had a decent season by his standards at the club. Although a slightly inferior defender compared to Patrice Evra, Sandro still managed 15 appearances in his debut season after signing from Porto. His bombing runs down the left flank were a feature of the second half of the season.

The Brazilian is set to get similar playing time this time around and hence his rating is expected to remain the same with the possibility of a slight increase.

Mehdi Benatia: 84 → 83

Benatia signed for Juventus on a season-long loan in July after struggling for playing time in Germany. With just over 15 appearances in all competitions for the German club, Benatia’s rating is set to drop.

Although he is a world class defender by all means, he may struggle to find playing time at Juventus with the emergence of Daniele Rugani and his rating is expected to be 83.

Leonardo Bonucci: 83 → 84

Bonucci has been widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world at the moment. Although linked with moves away from the club, Juventus have done well to keep the Italian at the club and he is poised to have another successful season.

The 29-year-old made 35 appearances for the club with the highlight of his last season being a vital interception on Gonzalo Higuain in what proved to be the Scudetto decider. This sets him in good stead for a rise in his FIFA rating, which is expected to be 84.

Daniele Rugani: 78→80

Daniele Rugani, Juventus
Rugani’s rating is set to rise to as high as 80 after a promising 2015/16 campaign

Rugani is considered to be one of the best young defenders in the world and played his part in Juventus’ title defence. With Chiellini injured, Rugani shone alongside Barzagli in the heart of the defence, making 17 appearances for the club. Rugani is a strong tackler and has great positioning ability.

At just 22, he is poised to become the next great Italian defender. Rugani’s rating could jump to as high as 85 if his strong performances continue, but for the time being a jump to 80 is expected.

Patrice Evra: 81→80

The French defender played 35 times for Juventus in all competitions last season, but his playing time may be reduced after the emergence of Alex Sandro. The 35-year-old has been a wonderful servant for Juventus but is entering the end of his career and may see playing time limited.

Evra was rated at 81 on FIFA 16 and may see a slight decrease in his rating because of his age.

Dani Alves: 84→84

Another experienced defender with bags of trophies under his belt, Dani Alves switched to Juventus this summer from Barcelona. Alves was a mainstay in Barca’s defence for several seasons and the defender is known for his bombing runs down the right flank.

Alves had a rating of 84 and is set to remain the same this season as well.

Stephan Lichtsteiner : 82→83

Lichtsteiner has been an important figure in Juventus’ back four and he will have competition for the right-back spot with Dani Alves.

Lichtsteiner was rated at 82 and his steady performances for Juventus will give an increase of 1 or two points.

Midfield:

Juventus have always had a very competent midfield. Although the loss of Paul Pogba could affect them to a certain extent, they have acted quickly to rope in Miralem Pjanic and 21-year-old winger Marco Pjaca.

Marchisio and Khedira are expected to continue their fine work at the heart of the midfield. The club have also stated their interest in signing Alex Witsel from Zenit which would add a major feather to their cap.

Claudio Marchisio: 84 → 85

Claudio Marchisio, Juventus
Marchisio has been Juventus’ workhorse for several years

Marchisio missed a major part of last season due to injury, but his return helped Juventus sure up both ends of the pitch. The heart of the Juventus midfield, he is considered to be the Sergio Busquets of the Italian League.

The unsung hero of the side, Marchisio is set to have even more responsibility with the departure of Pogba and will be looking forward to the challenge. His tactical awareness and positioning is second to none and his rating is set to rise slightly.

Roberto Pereyra: 81→79

Roberto Pereyra did not feature much for Juventus in the 2015/16 season after succumbing to injury.

Although a highly qualified player possessing significant pace and outstanding dribbling abilities, he made just 10 appearances in the Serie-A last time around and the arrival of Miralem Pjanic is set to further limit his time in the first team. His rating should drop by about a point or two.

Miralem Pjanic: 84→85

Miralem Pjanic, Juventus
Pjanic will replace Pogba in Juventus’ midfield

Pjanic was a highly instrumental figure in Roma’s midfield. The Bosnian managed 12 goals and 13 assists last campaign and was the only Roma player to reach double figures in both categories.

After signing for Juventus for €32m, Pjanic is expected to slot straight into the side and play a major role in their title defence. One of the best free-kick takers in the league, Pjanic's rating is expected to rise by a point after his phenomenal season.

Mario Lemina: 76 → 77

Mario Lemina did not play a major role last season due to injury but performed admirably when he did manage to play. Another prospect for the future, Lemina is expected to get more playing time this time around in place of an ageing Sami Khedira.

He was impressive in Juventus' International Champions Cup match against Spurs in pre-season. With the future ahead of him, his rating is expected to increase by a point at best.

Sami Khedira: 83 → 83

The German was another player who found his time limited due to injuries. Although he did have a problem fitting into Juventus’ system last season, he found his feet later on in the campaign. Khedira’s consistency when fit ensures he will continue to be an 83 rated midfielder come the new campaign.

Marko Pjaca: NA → 77

Marco Pjaca signed for Juventus from Dinamo Zagreb for €23m. With the ability to play off both flanks, the pacy Croatian is set to provide width and dynamism to the Juventus team.

The 21-year-old wasn't a part of the FIFA franchise in 2016 but is set to make his FIFA debut in the new edition, probably at around 77.

Attack:

Paulo Dybala, Juventus
Dybala was one of Juventus’ best players last season

Juventus were the third highest scorers last season, but that is set to change with the arrival of Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain. With the presence of Mandzukic and Zaza, the frontline looks to be stronger than ever.

Mario Mandzukic: 83 → 82

Mandzukic had a mixed season last time around. Although the Croatian managed 10 goals in 27 games, he played second fiddle to Paulo Dybala for a major part of the season. With the arrival of Higuain, his playing time is set to be limited further and his rating could drop by a point or two.

Paulo Dybala: 81 → 83

Dybala was probably Juventus’ best player last season. The Argentine alongside new signing Gonzalo Higuain are set to form a formidable partnership up front for the club.

After a phenomenal season which comprised 21 goals and 9 assists, the 22-year-old’s rating is set to take a significant jump. Expect a rating of nothing less than 83 for the 22-year-old striker.

Gonzalo Higuain: 86→88

Gonzalo Higuain, Juventus
Higuain is set to form a formidable artnership with Paulo Dybala

Gonzalo Higuain had the best season of his career at Napoli in 2015/16. After amassing a whopping Serie-A record 36 goals last season, Higuain moved to Juventus for a club record €90 million making him the world’s fourth most expensive player of all time.

Higuain is set to see his rating take a leap to a minimum of 88 with the possibility of it rising as high as 90.
