Mohammed Al-Sahlawi is a prolific and experienced goalscorer. He had an impressive record in the World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring 16 goals, a feat matched by only one other player, Robert Lewandowski.
Saudi Arabia has always had the problem of their players not having enough European experience, as they mostly decide to ply their trade in their own domestic league. Saudi Arabia has attempted to resolve this issue by sending a majority of their players to Spain on loan for the latter half of this season.
The move seemed to be logical, except that the players did not get too many minutes under their belt, which will bother their national coach Juan Antonio Pizzi.
Pizzi will be hoping that Al-Sahlawi can carry his form into the tournament and help his side out massively in Russia.
