First Leg PSG 4-0 Barcelona
Paris Saint-Germain shocked the world when they beat Barcelona 4-0 at the Parc de Princes, lead by the former Real Madrid man Angel di Maria who scored though a freekick from outside the box and a majestic curler to the top right corner of the goal.
Julain Draxler’s precise finish was sandwiched by the Argentine’s two goals on the night, and the game was put to bed by a brilliant finish from Edinson Cavani. The result attracted a meltdown from all corners of the football fraternity, and arguably made Luis Enrique announce that he will be leaving the Barcelona job at the end of the season.
A four goal deficit had never been turned around in the history of the European Cup.
Second Leg Barcelona 6-1 PSG
Barcelona started the game brilliantly thanks to their talismanic striker Luis Suarez who opened the scoring in the second minute to give Barcelona belief. The second goal game via a lucky deflection off a cheeky backheel from Andreas Iniesta, and gave Barcelona a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.
Barcelona got their third goal from a Lionel Messi penalty which he gladly dispatched with aplomb past goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
However, PSG came back into the game when Edinson Cavani emphatically finished, leaving Barcelona needing three goals to win the game. Barcelona couldn’t find the breakthrough till the 88th minute when Neymar curled a wonderful freekick into the back of the net.
Neymar stepped up again after Marquinhos had brought down Luis Suarez inside the box. He dispatched the penaly, leaving Barcelona needing a goal in five minutes of extra time.
The home fans were sent into delirium when Neymar drifted the ball into the box for Sergi Roberto to poke, completing the unlikeliest of turnarounds.
