Greek champions Olympiakos announced Tuesday the appointment of France’s 1998 World Cup winning midfielder Christian Karembeu to an adminstrative role at the Super League club.
Karembeu, 42, who was also part of Les Bleus’ Euro 2000 success, was named strategic advisor for scouting and international relations, while ex-South African international Pierre Issa was hired as the team’s sporting director.
Olympiakos said the pair would be officially presented at a news conference on Wednesday.

Born in New Caledonia, Karembeu played 53 times for the French national team, while at club level he won the Champions League on two occasions (1997/98 and 1999/2000) with Real Madrid.
He also spent time at Nantes, with whom he won the 1994/95 French league crown, Sampdoria, Middlesbrough and Servette Geneva before retiring in 2006 after a season at Bastia.
Meanwhile, Issa was capped 47 times by South Africa and had spells at Marseille, Chelsea, Watford, Olympic Beirut and Greek clubs Ionikos and OFI Crete.
