Real Madrid’s heavy spending has started off the summer transfer window on a high and with a lot of big-name players expected to move this summer, it seems that high transfer amounts are going to be spent by some clubs in the coming months.

However, keeping aside the high profile transfers, there are many players in this transfer window who are available for a free transfer move and given the current scenario of the inflated transfer market, bringing in a quality addition to the squad for free will be a luxury for any club.

Additionally, in the last couple of years, many free agents have been picked up by some major clubs and these players have gone on to become game-changers with their excellent performances and have made name for themselves.

Here we look at 3 quality midfielders who are available for free this summer and can surely make an impact next season.

In the last couple of years, Adrien Rabiot has been involved in major controversies with his club and country. Unfortunately, these controversies cast a shadow over the immense potential he holds. Nevertheless, after a failed contract negotiation with his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, the French player is now available as a free agent in this transfer window- making him one of the hottest properties on the transfer market this summer.

Keeping aside his controversies, the midfielder is a quality player and has the potential to be one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the future. His ball control and passing abilities along with his strong physique, make him an unstoppable force in the midfield.

However, the 24-year-old had a tough time this season as he was sidelined from the team due to the controversy over his contract negotiations and his indiscipline. During his limited game time, the midfielder showed glimpses of his talent as he managed to contribute to 3 goals and had an average of 2.5 tackles per game this season.

At just 24 years of age, the midfielder still has a long career ahead of him and maybe a move to a new environment can help him achieve the immense potential he holds.

In the last couple of years, very few players have managed to impress the Manchester United fans, and one of them is Ander Herrera. However, after a disagreement over a new contract, the Spaniard has decided to leave Manchester United and will be available on a free transfer move this summer.

Losing Herrera is a massive loss for the Red Devils considering his crucial contributions and impressive performances for the club in the last five years. The 29-year-old moved from Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United in 2014 and proved out to be a quality addition to their squad. The Spanish midfielder is a perfect modern-day box-to-box midfielder as he not only contributes to the goals but also breaks up the play and initiates the counter-attacks.

The midfielder enjoyed a successful career at Old Trafford and contributed to 47 goals during his 5-year spell. However, he did face rough patch last season due to the lack of game-time under then manager, Jose Mourinho but after the appointment Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he was included in the starting line-up and regained his form and showcased his worth with his excellent run of form.

With the Red Devils looking to rebuild after a disappointing campaign this season, Herrera’s departure has left them with a void in the midfield that needs to be taken care of. Whereas, Ander Herrera, who is currently in his prime years and will have plenty of lucrative offers to look at. It will be exciting to see what the future holds for the Spaniard.

The Mexican player is a highly versatile midfielder and with his technical abilities, impressive ball-distribution, incisive passing along with excellent tackling and high work rate, the midfielder is able to dominate the center of the park. Additionally, he is a born leader and can prove to be an asset to any team in the world.

The end at Porto opens many new doors for the 29-year-old. The Porto captain is currently linked with a move to Spain but only time will tell where the star midfielder starts his next chapter.
