Gabriel Paulista handed a one-match ban, Mourinho comments on Arsene Wenger

Gabriel Paulista receives a one-match ban for improper conduct

Arsenal midfielder Gabriel Paulista has been handed a one-match suspension from the FA for improper conduct, according to Guardian. The Football Association had recently rescinded the player's three-match suspension after video evidence proved him innocent of kicking Diego Costa.

While the player was fortunate to play in the Capital One Cup match against Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday, he will miss the league match against Leicester this Saturday. Apart from the one-match suspension he will also need to pay a £10,000 fine.

A statement from the FA read: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct.

“The charge relates to Gabriel’s behavior following his dismissal in or around the 45th minute of the game against Chelsea on Saturday [19 September 2015]. The player, who requested a personal hearing, was also fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct.”

Wenger ahead of the match in a statement was still furious that the player got a red card in the first place and said: “It just shows that they decided after the game what should have happened during the game,” the Frenchman said.

“They repair 5% of the damage that has been done to us. Instead of us playing 11 against 10, we played 10 against 11. [It] doesn’t help us too much.”

Mourinho takes sly disguised jabs at Wenger

The Portuguese who has to tread carefully while discussing anything related to match officials felt his Emirates counterpart Wenger receives a lot of sympathy and gets away with a lot of comments directed towards other teams. Chelsea boss who returned to winning ways after winning three matches in three different competitions took a sly disguised jab at his London rival during a press conference.

"It’s not normal," he said. "I don’t answer. Because if I answer I will be suspended. I don’t want to touch the thing that surrounds this situation. I want to be on the bench.

"In the rulebook, it says some managers can speak about the referee before the game or after the game, and some others cannot. And I am in the list of managers who get punished before or after the game. I have to stick to that rulebook. It's an imaginary list, but clearly [you know what I mean]."

Mourinho who faces Newcastle on Saturday went on to talk about the pressures he faces as a manager: "I think in this country, only one manager is not under pressure.

“Every other manager is under pressure, so Steve is under pressure, I am under pressure, Brendan Rodgers is under pressure, Manuel Pellegrini is under pressure, everybody is under pressure.”

When asked about which manager he was talking about he added: "He can speak about referees before the game, he can speak about referees after the game, he can push people in the technical area, cry in the morning, cry in the afternoon, nothing happens. He cannot achieve, but he keeps his job, he can still be king. It's a privilege.”
