Berlin, Aug 7Bundesliga side Werder Bremen has signed Belgian international midfielder Kevin de Bruyne on a season-long deal from Chelsea until 2013, the club said Tuesday.

The 21-year-old Chelsea youngster joins Bremen until June 2013 on loan without a buyer’s option, reports Xinhua.

“We have observed Kevin intensively for several month and since we had good talks with him and Chelsea. We are now glad that we can increase the quality in our squad with this loan transfer”, Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs said.

From 2008 until 2012 de Bruyne played for Genk where he scored 11 goals in 65 official matches. In February 2012 he joined Chelsea on five-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

“It is great that the transfer to Bremen is perfect now. Werder Bremen has a great tradition and plays in one of the best leagues in Europe with outsold stadiums,” midfielder Kevin de Bruyne said.

De Bruyne made his debut for the Belgium national team in 2010 in an international friendly against Finland.

Bremen finished the last Bundesliga season in a disappointing ninth position without the possibility to participate at European competitions.
