#3 Serge Gnabry unlucky not to cap off fine display with a goal

Serge Gnabry's creativity has taken a backseat at Bayern Munich this season, but it was on full display as Germany hosted Iceland.

Gnabry's ingenuity to lay the ball down with his chest for Goretzka before the first goal was indicative of his underlying ability. He also assisted Ilkay Gundogan with the third goal.

Gnabry himself was close to getting on the scoresheet in the final 20 minutes only to see his well-placed shot cannon off the post.

Despite his near-miss, Serge Gnabry was still one of the brightest sparks for Germany and constantly put the Iceland defense on the backfoot with his directness.

#2 Should much be read into Timo Werner's exclusion from Germany's starting line-up?

Timo Werner's transfer to Chelsea has not gone to plan, but the 25-year-old always had the fallback of being a regular with Germany.

The former RB Leipzig man had started six of Germany's last eight international fixtures, and his goal record in that time has been impressive.

However, his poor form with Chelsea might have played a part in his exclusion from the starting lineup against Iceland, with Low fielding his side without a recognized striker.

Werner did come on with 10 minutes to go but failed to make a mark on the rest of the game.

It is still too early to suggest that Timo Werner has lost his spot in the Germany team. However, knowing that his form at club level has left a lot to be desired, the Chelsea man will be itching to get in on the action against Romania.

#1 Goal machine Ilkay Gundogan continues fine run in front of goal

Right now, Ilkay Gundogan can seemingly do no wrong, and he has brought his fine form with Manchester City with him to the international scene.

The former Dortmund man has been one of the most in-form players in the Premier League, and his displays for Pep Guardiola's side saw him named Player of the Month in January.

Having found the back of the net in City's most recent game, Gundogan wrapped up the scoring for Germany with a brilliant strike from outside the box.

It was the perfect end to what had been a fine performance that saw him make four key passes and complete two dribbles.
