What's the story?

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar expressed his disgust on a penalty decision against his team against Manchester United last night which eventually knocked them out from the UEFA Champions League.

In case you didn't know...

Neymar was arguably the best player for Paris Saint-Germain as he helped them qualify from the most difficult group in the Champions League which included the likes of Liverpool, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade.

The Brazilian's 5 goals and 2 assists in six Champions League games depict his impact on the pitch for PSG. But unfortunately, he suffered a metatarsal injury which ruled him out from the both Round of 16 fixtures against Manchester United.

PSG clearly missed their superstar as they were eventually knocked out by Manchester United. Despite beating United 2-0 in the first leg at Old Trafford, the French giants succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in their own home which saw a 3-3 score on aggregate with United qualifying on the basis of scoring more away goals.

Marcus Rashford converted a controversial penalty in the fourth minute of additional time, which levelled the scores on aggregate and helped United mount this sensational comeback.

The heart of the matter

The penalty was awarded under controversial circumstances at the dying emphasis of the match by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Diogo Dalot’s shot struck PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe's arm which Neymar witnessed from the sidelines and eventually expressed his rage and displeasure with a rant on his social media.

The 27-year-old Brazilian expressed his views on Instagram, writing, "This is a disgrace, they put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR. There is no penalty. How can it be a handball when it hits his back! Go f**k yourselves!”

The post, it seems, has been since deleted by the Brazil star.

What's next?

Paris Saint-Germain has little to play for as they failed to complete their main objective this season, which is winning the Champions League.

Ligue 1 giants are already 17 points ahead in the table and will play Dijon and Marseille in the upcoming fixtures in the French league.
