Happy birthday, Inter Milan!
Inter Milan turns 105 today. The club was found on 9th March 1908 in Milan. One of the founding members of Inter wrote, “This wonderful night will give us the colours for our crest: black and blue against a backdrop of stars. It will be called Internazionale, because we are brothers in the world.”
Since its formation, Inter Milan have become a dominating force in the Serie A, winning the League title 18 times. Inter has also won the Champion’s League thrice. The club has seen some great players which includes Samuel Eto’o, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Julio Cesar and more.
The club has a simple yet motivating philosophy- “A sense of adventure, the will to win – always in the right way – this is all part of the club’s DNA, as well as a readiness to introduce top international players. To help them develop and create a name for them.”
While club captain Javier Zanetti is the record holder for number of appearances for the club with a total of 599 in appearances (as of 7 March 2013), Giuseppe Meazza is Inter’s all time top goalscorer, scoring 284 goals for the club in 408 games.
Back in 1908, Inter would never have dreamt of such glory. The history that they have in the sport is just remarkable. And Inter fans will hope it stays that way.
