Eden Hazard wants to be among the very best in the world

Eden Hazard Chelsea Disappointment
Hazard’s impact on Chelsea’s games this season has been minimal so far

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard spoke to Sky Sports about his desire to among the best players in the world. He addressed the turbulent start he along with the team has had to the 2015/16 season and the newly signed Barcelona winger Pedro’s induction into the Blues’ set-up. He also discussed his goals and challenges going forward.

The Belgian has endured a slow start to his Premier League campaign with the defending champions, gathering only 1 point from their two opening fixtures. Hazard has individually failed to replicate the form he showed through most of last season. While Chelsea seem to be focussed on rebuilding and gathering themselves ahead of a tough clash against West Brom, the EPL Player of the Year from last season is yet to find his feet.

The 24-year-old reiterated his manager Jose Mourinho’s unhappiness at the results the Blues have endured in their first 2 fixtures. He said: “Of course we need to change, we have just one point.

“We need to play our game, our football. We need to score more goals, defend very well. Everybody has to be better.”

Hazard was a vital part of Chelsea’s machine last season but he claims that the team knew coming into the new season that defending their title would be difficult.

"I'm not surprised [how hard it has been]. The manager said to the players last season 'you will see next season will be hard',” he said.

He also added: "It's the beginning of the season, we have to work. Now we play the third game and if we want to be at the top at the end, we have to start winning games."

Pedro’s Chelsea move comes in search of regular game time

Hazard on playing with Pedro

Chelsea only completed the signing of Barcelona forward Pedro a few days ago. The Spaniard has already begun training at Cobham and Hazard insists that he cannot wait to play with him.

He said: "When you play with Chelsea, you want to play with big players.

"He (Pedro) can bring a new experience. He is very good, fast, I want to play with him.

Along the same vein, he also touched upon what his goals are and where he wants to be headed in the upcoming season and his career path.

"I want to learn, I'm still young, I want to be one of the very best and I learn from the best," Hazard said.

"When you play football, the most important is to score more. This is my challenge now. Every game when I can, I try to score. It's not easy to score every game,” he added.

Whether the talismanic forward can turn around Chelsea’s fortunes though is yet to be seen.
