Former Barcelona player, Yaya Toure has heaped praise on Lionel Messi and revealed what it is really like to be on the team with the Argentine.

In case you didn't know...

It goes without saying that Messi is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. The Barcelona star has racked up 43 goals in all competitions for Barcelona and leads the race for European Golden Shoe with 33 goals. He in the also the joint highest scorer of the Champions League with 8 goals so far.

The 31-year-old leads the assist charts as well with 14 assists in LaLiga and 21 in all competitions. Messi has managed to consistently deliver top drawer performances throughout the season and as a result, the Blaugrana are top of the league table with 11 point lead over second placed Atletico Madrid.

With his help, the Catalan giants are eyeing another treble and are well on course to achieve another historic feat.

Yaya Toure enjoyed huge success since he moved to Manchester City from Barcelona in 2010. The 35-year-old midfielder was a vital cog under Mancini and Pellegrini and had a huge impact for the Sky Blues as they won numerous trophies since 2010.

The former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder revealed what Messi really is like a teammate.

On how Lionel Messi really is as a teammate, Toure said:

"He's different, he's special. He's the perfect teammate and it's so much fun playing alongside him."
"Whenever he's given the ball, he always has three or four players around him. But it's still difficult to get the ball off him," the midfielder explained. "Messi is on another level. He's always above everybody else."
"He was always focused on football. He was the perfect teammate for any player. Yeah, he's a little different. There aren't many like him,"

What's next?

Messi may miss Barcelona's clash with Huesca next in the LaLiga due to an injury but the Argentine is set to take part against Manchester United for the 2nd leg.
