What's the story?

Former Brazillian footballer, Jose Ferriera Neto has slammed Neymar publically and also blamed the forward for Brazil's quarter-final exit from the World Cup in Russia.

Speaking on a Brazilian TV, the 52-year-old claimed that the PSG star isn't on Messi and Ronaldo's level and that he "doesn't play sh*t" for the national side.

In case you didn't know...

Neymar became the world's most expensive footballer in 2017 when he left Barcelona to join French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, for a reported fee of €222 million. This season, the winger was involved in 31 goals in just 23 appearances before getting sidelined due to a foot injury.

According to the Spanish media outlet, AS, the PSG forward was spotted in a carnival party in Rio, despite struggling from the injury. The Brazilian talisman will be joining Thomas Tuchel's side in Paris to continue his recovery process, as his side host Manchester United in the Champions League. However, his return to the pitch is still unknown.

The heart of the matter

Speaking about the Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neto said “Neymar is one of the greatest players in the world but did you see Messi playing against Real Madrid? Did you see Messi playing against Sevilla? Have you seen Cristiano Ronaldo playing with Juventus at 33? He is the top scorer of the [Italian] championship,” said Neto on Esporte Interativo.

“He is not a player, he is a celebrity and he's also a spoiled man, you cannot talk about him because his father gets angry and the only ones who had the courage to do so were [fellow former player [Walter] Casagrande and me.”

“We lost the World Cup because of him because he does not play shit for the national team,” said the former Corinthians player.

What's next?

While Neymar continues his recovery process, his side faces Manchester United at the Parc des Princes, having a 2-0 lead in the tie. A sparkling performance from Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe saved the day for PSG at Old Trafford in Neymar's absence.
