Highlights: Stoke City 1-1 Manchester United

The appeal for handball against Chris Smalling

Manchester United visited Britannia Stadium looking to extend unbeaten streak into double figures. Stoke City welcomed United in search of their third straight win.

Stoke City 1-0 Manchester United (Ryan Shawcross 2’)

Stoke again proved their aerial dominance. A corner flung in from the right. Crouch uses his height to nod the ball down before Shawcross swivels and volleys to beat David De Gea.

Stoke City 1-1 Manchester United (Radamel Falcao 26’)

Wayne Rooney delivers an inswinging corner close to the near post. An onrushing Carrick flicks it on towards Falcao who sweeps it into the goal.

Louis Van Gaal and United probably should have won the game given the kind of possession they had in the second half. The possession has to be used better for United to be champion material again. Stoke had a penalty shout and hit the post once in the second half.

The game could have gone either way on a very windy day at the Britannia stadium. But the result correctly reflects the game. Two equal teams on the day.
