Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu has played down all the reports linking Fernandinho to Manchester City. The Romanian former footballer has also said that Manchester City are not of the same level as Shakhtar.

Lucescu told PRO TV: “If City want to [sign Fernandinho], the clause is €50 million [£42.3 million].”

The 67-year-old Romanian also said that he might help their players to move out from the club only if they receive offers from teams which are better than Shakhtar.

“If our players receive offers from teams higher than Shakhtar, we do everything possible to help them. Currently, I think Manchester City are not at our level.”

Fernandinho was being considered to be the primary target of Roberto Mancini after the Brazilian lead Shakhtar Donetsk to their fourth successive domestic league title this season. The 27-year-old, who had joined Shakhtar from Atletico Paranaense in 2005 in a £7 million deal, is being heavily linked with Manchester City as Roberto Mancini is looking to give his squad a complete revamp.
