Agent Mino Raiola believes that the two Milan-based clubs should merge and become one strong dominant force for Italy to dominate again in Europe,.
Speaking to Gazetta.it, he said: ““The situation Italian football finds itself in is difficult.
“Milan and Inter, instead of competing against one and other, they should join forces. Lazio and Roma could have one strong club, rather than only two weak ones.”
But Milan CEO Adriano Galliani doesn’t seem to think that a merger is necessary.
“Raiola’s hypothesis to merge Milan and Inter to be more competitive might be a good idea, but never mind, we are already so strong.”
Milan will have to go through qualifying stages to reach the Champions League group stage this season, as they only managed to finish third in the league. On the other hand, Inter, by finishing ninth, have missed out on Champions League football for the second consecutive season.
