Inter Milan News: Samuel Eto'o To Stay On Next Season

Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o has stressed his desire to remain in Italy and ruled out a move for this summer at the very least. He admitted to having talks with the President which reached a satisfactory culmination, and stated that he will be a part of the Nerazzurri next season.

Eto'o to stay on at Inter

Speaking to media outlet Inter channel, Eto’o said that he had talked with Massimo Moratti after the Italian Cup final against Palermo and the President had convinced him of Inter’s ambition and desire to keep him. Eto’o has been linked with a host of clubs so far this summer, including English heavyweights Arsenal and cash rich La Liga outfit Malaga.

But Eto’o laid all these stories to rest and said that he was only concentrating on the current pre-season camp with Inter and the coming season. He said-

“I spoke with president Moratti right after the Italian Cup final we won against Palermo and when the president speaks, I can only say yes,”

Talking about the fitness camp and pre-season tour, he sounded positive and sanguine about next season under new coach Gasperini. Talking about the road ahead, he said-

“It went pretty well. It was a bit hot, but not as hot as in Milan right now. I am feeling fine and we have found the right atmosphere to start a difficult season,”

“We are all really eager to repay the enthusiasm of the fans with victories.”

Eto’o has been a Cameroonian bullet for many years now, scoring goals at will both at Barcelona and Inter. His versatility is a very important facet of his play. He was asked to play in the centre at Barca and concentrate solely on scoring; whereas at Inter, Mourinho gave him a more defensive role and played him out wide with Milito through the middle. Eto’o performed both roles with aplomb, which only underlines his skill as a player.

It seems as if Inter have tied down Eto’o for another season, and so much the better for them for having done so.
