With the season drawing to a close and Pep Guardiola moving to Germany, Chelsea have been left hunting for a replacement for Benitez. A name linked with Chelsea is that of Antonio Conte, the Juventus manager, whose stock has risen considerably after he guided the Turin club to an undefeated season, culminating in a Seria A triumph. The side lead the league this year as well, and look to be headed for the Champions League quarterfinals. Conte could be an interesting choice if he does land up at Chelsea, since he is mostly likely to adopt hes favored 3 defenders at the back which might bring variety to the blues game play and give license to players like Ashley Cole to play further up front like wing back. Also it would prove to be a boost to the Chelsea hero frank lampard who might be the ideal candidate to replicate the role played by Pirlo in the center midfield position. Both are maestro in their own rights and both have personified the central midfield role in different aspects and both seem to be evergreen and younger than ever as their performance on field suggest. Chelsea are in need of variety in attack since the formation which various Chelsea managers have used and never bought out the full novelty in attack and have mostly been counter attacking style . But with the owner deciding with signings of hazard oscar mata the blues need more creative flair then conte could be the right man to lead this charge and make the holy trinity of Chelsea tick with right amount of creativity and stability at the back which will make them a force to reckon with in the future. Although it might be premature to suggest the Italian as the head of Chelsea and leading the candidate race for manger spot with a certain Jose Mourinho return not ruled out still a long away to go till he can be seen as a clear cut favorite although the drawback could be the Italians lack of premier league experience and hes ability to absorb pressure and also the dark history of match fixing which saw him being handed a lengthy ban could all be aspects which the hierarchy at Chelsea might considered before handing over the mantle . Also Chelsea might want some one much more wise and experienced since their experiment with young manager failed miserably with Andre Villas Boas rein at Chelsea cut short due to various issues more so with hes inability to handle the pressure of the seat. However it remains to be seen what the Russian billionaire at Chelsea has in mind but the last time an Italian was Chelsea boss he delivered the Champions league so maybe 2 times lucky.
