Recently, my friend Sumer and I were talking about the utter waste of money in football.
Clubs like Manchester City and Real Madrid seem to have this never ending supply of money. Throwing out sums of money around 20-30 million pounds and then barely giving the players any playing time. The Value for Money concept seems to have been long forgotten around these clubs and these days, it seems that all that the Transfer Window is about making a statement.
Then come the players that re-affirm my faith in the game. Players like Bale, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Gerrard and India’s very own Subrata. Transfered for modest sums of money, each of them performs better than the top 5 transfers of all time combined. For them, its all about the game- its all about heart.
These players focus on winning . For the, nothing is more than the game and the game is more than anything. Winning is everything and if they make headlines, its about the game last night. For them all of it is on the field..not off it and that is why they are truly heroes. They are true legends. Kaka will never be sung about in Madrid and thats because he is just and entity. A very expensive, well functioning commodity. But Xavi? Hes a legend. A god , in the real meaning of the word and thats why he will go down in history.
Players with skill.. are well just players with skill but players with heart are true legends. There is a fine line separating an entity and a legend and that is Heart and Determination.
