Jamie Redknapp has suggested that Jose Mourinho could solve his issues with Eden Hazard in the Chelsea team by moving the Belgian attacker into a more central position than he is currently being fielded for the Blues.

Mourinho has grown frustrated with the lack of defensive responsibility shown by the winger in his time on the flanks, with his performance against Atletico Madrid contributing highly to the defeat they suffered that cost them their place in the Champions League final.

Hazard is reportedly contemplating leaving Chelsea after clashing with his manager, but Redknapp feels that Mourinho could solve his problems and make both parties happier by moving Hazard into the number ten role and allowing him to truly display his creative genius.

Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column, “Jose Mourinho has never been afraid to take on a row, but I’m surprised he decided to take on Eden Hazard.

“The Belgian has been Chelsea’s best player by a long way this season and though he did not have his best game against Atletico Madrid last week, he has provided the attacking spark so often for his side.

“If Mourinho doesn’t trust him with the defensive responsibilities of playing out wide, then maybe he could play centrally.

“It’s not the first time Mourinho has had a row with his most creative player and Juan Mata paid the price in January. It would be a big mistake if Hazard was allowed to go the same way.”
