It was not a good start to Jeremy Menez's career at French club Bordeaux as he lost a part of his ear during a friendly. Didier Ndong of Lorient stepped on Menez’s ear accidentally during a tangle.

Menez completed his transfer from AC Milan to the french club two days ago and had a horrifying debut for the club though his side enjoyed a win.

Menez joined Bordeaux on a two-year contract which keeps him at the french side till 2018. But he could only play 15 minutes of the game as his new club won the game by a margin of 3 to 1.

The injury was pretty serious as Lorient posted a club statement that Jeremy Menez would require surgery on the injury. Didier Ndong also apologized for the incident and wished Menez luck for his surgery.

“I offer my apologies to Jeremy Menez and Bordeaux. I give him my full support for the coming days and hope to see him very quickly on the lawns of Ligue 1"

Bordeaux were ahead 2-0 at half time as Diego Rolan netted their first and Brazilian youngster Malcolm got their second. The former Milan star replaced goalscorer Malcolm in the 78th minute and Bordeaux Valentin Vada scored the third for the French side 15 minutes from the end.

Bordeaux are set to begin their Ligue 1 campaign from 13 August at home against Saint-Etienne. The first match would be crucial for both the teams as they both would want to get off to a winning start. Menez is a very important player for them this season who needs to recover as soon as possible .

The new season would be a test for their new signings. Bordeaux have made six signings in the window and Jeremy Menez is their latest. The French attacker has previously played for top European clubs like AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan before joining Bordeaux. Bordeaux is his 4th league 1 club after Sochaux, Monaco and PSG.

We need to wait and watch how much time it takes for Menez to recover from his injury and how the season turns out to be for Bordeaux. The Ligue 1 club finished 11th in the previous campaign and would target the European spots for the upcoming campaign.
