Terry is one of the best defenders of this generation

Captain. Leader. Legend. Three words that aptly sum up one of the finest centre-halves of this generation. A true champion, John Terry has earned several accolades for his services to both club and country.

Terry has played against some amazing players since he started playing in 1998 and he picked former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry as the toughest opponent he has ever faced. The defender was full of praise for Henry calling him head and shoulders above anyone else he has played against.

In an interview with Goal, Terry said:

"The toughest would be Thierry Henry,"

He also spoke about the best players he has partnered in defence.

"The best player [I played alongside] at Chelsea would be Ricardo Carvalho. For England, it would be Rio Ferdinand."

John Terry might leave Chelsea at the end of the season as his contract is yet to be renewed.

John Terry thinks he has three years left at the top level

Chelsea captain John Terry thinks he can continue playing football at the very top for another two or three years. The 35-year-old centre-back will be a free agent this summer as his contract at Stamford Bridge ends and his future at the club is still unclear.

When asked about a possible extension, he insisted that he was still in good shape to continue playing.

“I'm probably feeling in the last three or four years the best physical condition that I've ever been in,” Terry explained.

“As a youngster you take it for granted; you eat what you want, you can train, have a rest, but when you get older you can't.

“But listen, I've definitely got two or three years left in me, as I said before I would be gutted if it wasn't for Chelsea, and if not it will be somewhere else for sure.”

“I want to play at the highest level of course,” Terry said. “ Obviously, for me being Chelsea through and through, and a one-club man, I couldn't play for another Premier League club. I couldn't do that because of the Chelsea fans and what Chelsea means to me.”

The former England captain also said that a move to a league outside Europe was also a possibility with the American MLS an option apart from cash-rich leagues like the Chinese Super League and Qatar.

“If not, I will be playing. I don't know whether that will be Italy, MLS, China, Qatar, I really don't know at the moment.”
