Jose Canas' agent hits out at Real Betis fans

Real Betis midfielder José Alberto Cañas has been criticized by fans for under-performing. The fans believe that the midfielder’s form has dipped since the announcement that he would be joining League Cup winners Swansea City on free transfer next season was made in January. Canas has made 26 La Liga appearances so far this season.

Canas’ agent Alvaro Torres said: “Jose has done very well this season, even though he is leaving.

“He wanted the club to receive money for him but that was not possible.

“Jose has given Real Betis everything but maybe the fans don’t understand that.”

Earlier this year, Betis turned down €1 million bid from the Swans, as they were trying to qualify for the Europa League and wanted to keep the player. But now, he will prepare for the Welsh club’s maiden appearance in a European tournament as they qualified as League Cup winners.

According to the Sun, the deal was agreed in the month of July, but reports suggest that Canas refused to renew his expiring contract in April and chose to join Swansea City on a reported 3-year deal.

He becomes the fifth Spaniard to sign for Swansea after Angel Rangel, Chico Flores, Pablo Hernandez and Michu.
