The Portuguese manager told the official Chelsea website on Monday, “I think he [Fabregas] plays Wednesday because on Saturday it was a decision to protect him”.

“We didn't want to risk two players at the same time. We risked with Willian and to start two players with a risk is a big gamble and we gambled with only one”, he added.

Fabregas has been missing from Chelsea’s lineup since January 31 with a niggling hamstring injury. The Spanish playmaker missed Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City as well as the 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.

The midfield maestro has been in sensational form, following his signing for Chelsea from Barcelona this season. He has notched up 15 assists so far, seven more than anyone else. The Londoners will be hoping he gets back soon, as his contributions have been crucial to their performances this season.
