Jose Mourinho has claimed that Fernando Torres should be happy to fight for a place in the team in the coming season.
The Spaniard was not included in Chelsea‘s squad for the pre-season tour in Asia, as he was excused after his involvement with Spain in the FIFA Confederation Cup in Brazil.
Romelu Lukaku was given a chance in Torres’ absence and the striker, who was on loan at West Brom last season, has impressed everyone after scoring two goals in the 8-1 thrashing of Indonesia All Stars.
“I think Torres should be happy, because we have competition in the team in every position and that is good for everybody,” said Mourinho.
“Sometimes Torres has been the only striker and then Demba Ba came in January, and now we have three strikers and that is good for the team.”
