Jose Mourinho hopes to finalise Schurrle deal

Bayer 04 Leverkusen Training And Press Conference

Incoming Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will hold talks with Bayer Leverkusen in a bid to complete the signing of Andre Schurrle.

The German international’s move to the London club seemed imminent having been linked to the Blues for quite some time, but the deal was said to be stalled because Kevin De Bruyne, who was wanted by Leverkusen on loan, said he would prefer to join Champions League runners-up Dortmund on a permanent deal.

Mourinho and Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller may hold talks when they will be in opposing dugouts for Michael Ballack’s testimonial.

Mourinho will manage a World XI side against Voller’s side, Andre Schurrle will also be participating in the game.

Voller said: “The main focus will be on Michael and quite rightly so. But we are working on a solution for Andre and it is inevitable I will speak to Mourinho afterwards.”
