Will we see the ‘special one’ at Old Trafford next season?

Jose Mourinho’s done deal is subject to a condition according to reports from the Manchester Evening News. According to them, Jose Mourinho will only take over as Manchester United manager if Louis Van Gaal fails to qualify for the Champions League.

United sacked David Moyes immediately after it became mathematically impossible to qualify for the Champions League and Jose Mourinho expects a similar reaction if the Dutchman fails to improve his team’s standing in the Premier League.

Mourinho has insisted that he has neither agreed nor signed a contract with Manchester United, with reports stating that his agent Jorge Mendes has just started working on a deal with United which is far from being complete.

The Portuguese manager is said to be embarrassed with the treatment meted out to his friend and mentor Louis Van Gaal, with the Dutch manager continuously fielding questions about his future at Old Trafford.

Louis Van Gaal hits back at journalists over Jose Mourinho rumours

When asked by a reporter as to why claims of Mourinho taking over at Manchester United were not being denied, Van Gaal snapped saying:

"Why does the club have to deny it when you are creating stories? You have not spoken to Ed Woodward, nor with the Glazers,"

"Maybe I can say that you are getting the sack tomorrow, what is your name? Maybe I can announce that. Write what you want. Maybe you also remember the first years of Sir Alex? Maybe you can look at the statistics."

“I do not believe that there is already a relationship between Jose Mourinho and Manchester United”

“The last two months have been very difficult for my wife, my kids my grandchildren and my friends to cope with” he stated “For me too, but I can cope. In the Netherlands, they know I am too arrogant to doubt myself, but I also know that such a nonsense is being created about me.” added the Dutchman

Louis Van Gaal will be hoping that Manchester United recover quickly from their draw against Chelsea and go on a winning streak which will aid them in their bid to qualify for the Champions League.
