Will Pep ever return to the Camp Nou

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has the left the door open for a possible return of Pep Guardiola to Barcelona. The Spaniard who was part of Johan Cruyff’s dream team back in 1990’s went on to manage one of the most successful Barcelona teams in their history.

Speaking to the Telegraph he said, “No, no. I knew he wanted to go there as a player. He couldn’t do that but now he is a manager. So it’s normal that he went to the Premier League and I hope that one day he will be back here.”

“You never know. There are so many people who were at the club, went, came back again. You never know but right now he is concentrating on City. I think he has a three-year contract?”

“We have a match [against City] and we are going there to win. We need to win because the Champions League is very important for us. Our objective every year is to try and win every title and the Champions League is one of the titles we desire more.”

Barcelona was his very first managerial job when he was appointed as the head coach in 2009. Guardiola made a few brave decisions, with one of them being the sale of Ronaldinho to AC Milan.

But Pep wanted to do things the way he felt would be best for the club, while at the same time wanting to stamp his philosophy on the style of play. Being one of Cruyff's disciple's he combined the ideology of total football with that of possession style to create what is now known as Tiki-Taka.

Pep’s father had previously stated that he doesn’t see him returning to the Camp Nou in the future claiming there was nothing left for him at Barcelona. Of course, he also admitted it was up to his son to make that decision.

Pep looks for first win against Barcelona

Barcelona won the La Liga three times under Pep and also won a record 6 trophies in a single season. He also won them the UEFA Champions League twice before he finally said goodbye in 2012.

Now at Manchester City, he welcomes the Catalans to the Etihad on Tuesday night after having lost to them at the Camp Nou two weeks ago. Pep will hope he will be able to defeat his former side at the 4th time of asking.

The last time he faced them his Bayern side were outplayed by Barcelona across both legs thanks to one Leo Messi. Guardiola recently heaped praise on Sergio Aguero saying he is as good as Messi when it comes to finishing in the box.

He will need Aguero to be at his very best tonight if they are to have a good chance of defeating them tonight.
