Juventus, City or somewhere else? 7 Possible Transfer Destinations for Isco

Where will he go?
Where will he go?

Isco leaving Real would have been a joke 6 months back. But now there is a good chance that he might leave this January. Such has been his time at Real this season.

He has just made 11 appearances with his last start being the 5-1 drubbing by Barcelona.

City, Juventus, and Chelsea are reportedly the front-runners to winning his signature while PSG, Barcelona, Napoli, and AC Milan have also been rumoured as potential suitors.

Isco started out in the Valencia academy before Malaga bought him for €6 million. He attracted a number of suitors with his performances for Malaga and eventually won the Golden Boy Award. He became Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti first signing in 2013, with Real snapping him up for €30 million. He rose to prominence during the tenure of Zinedine Zidane.

So where could Isco actually end up?

Style of play

Isco is a creative attacking who can play as a No.10 or as a winger. He is known for finding spaces and can unleash the attacking third by creating more opportunities by his accurate passing. Moreover, he is not shy from the distance and is good freekick taker(he scored more freekicks than Ronaldo last year) and can be deadly in counter-attacks.

PSG

PSG certainly can afford him and it is reported that there are talks going on. Their attacking midfielder currently is Julian Draxler and the fact that Tuchel likes Neymar to drop into the midfield makes this unlikely. Moreover, this seems unlikely due to FFP restrictions. Should they sell Neymar or Mbappe this can certainly happen.

Serie A options

Juventus are very much interested in him but due to the heavy spending in the summer, this seems a bit unlikely. Massimiliano Allegri's style of play doesn't give attacking midfielders a lot of prominence meaning that Isco would have to drop into unfamiliar positions like a second striker or central midfielder. They are not short of midfield options with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pjanic in excellent form. Ramsey will probably arrive at Turin over Isco.

AC Milan though in dire needs of a central and attacking midfielder, is already under UEFA investigation for their recent spending. The arrival of highly rated Brazilian wonderkid Lucas Paqueta who has drawn comparisons with Kaka has filled the holes in midfield. Moreover, Isco certainly would like to continue playing Champions League football, something AC don't have currently.

Napoli can sign Isco with not many FFP implications. But they don't currently need him as they have invested smartly as they have a lot of options in the attacking third. the likes Piotr Zielinski and Fabian Ruiz are putting some stellar displays in the Champions League and Serie A and should be given more game time. Though Ancelotti would love to be reunited with his former player, Isco's huge wages and midfielder Allan's impressive form will make this move highly unlikely.

Barcelona

Barcelona is certainly interested in Isco and he would perfectly fit in with the club. Prior to joining the Los Blancos, Isco was a Barcelona fan and Barcelona certainly could use a NO.10 like Isco, but he will receive some tough competition from the likes of Phillippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic. But it seems unlikely that Real will sell a player of Isco's quality to their chief rival unless for a huge sum.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola is a long time admirer of Isco. City would certainly be aiming for the Champions League and just imagine what a genius like Guardiola could do with Isco in his possession. He can also be David Silva's long-term successor and will perfectly fit in with City's style of play. City will be a very good destination for Isco.

Chelsea

Chelsea is in dire need of an attacking midfielder. Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic don't have goals in them, whereas Isco is one of the best attacking midfielders currently playing. His presence will allow Kante to return to his natural game forming a double pivot with Jorginho in the midfield which will give Isco the license to roam around in the NO.10 role that he so much desires. It seems very likely that he could be makeweight for Hazard as Real tries to land him.

Conclusion

It is not certain that Solari will be with Real for long. And Perez would certainly think twice before selling somebody like Isco. A winter move seems unlikely, as Real would certainly not sell a key player like Isco in January. So whenever he gets the opportunity, he should try to impress the coach and get a good move, or cement his place back in the starting XI, which of course, is his greatest wish
