What's the rumour?

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly approved an end-of-the-season move for Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah.

In case you didn't know...

Since arriving at Anfield in the summer of 2017, Salah has proven himself to be an improved version of his former self at Chelsea.

The Egypt international won the Premier League Golden Boot in his debut season with Liverpool, having netted a record 32 goals in the English top flight. This season, the forward has found the net 20 times for the Reds in all competitions so far.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs including LaLiga giants Real Madrid but it appears Juventus are ready to bolster their squad further and bring the Egyptian to Turin.

The heart of the matter

According to Sky News Arabia, Ronaldo has reportedly sanctioned a summer move for the Liverpool star. The report claims that the move will cost the Bianconeri around £175 million.

The Serie A table-toppers have already strengthened their squad at the beginning of the season with the arrival of Ronaldo. However, it appears that the Italian giants are willing to spend even more on reinforcements, having just procured the signature of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey this week, who has signed a pre-contract with the club.

The report also claims that the transfer would not be straight-forward to pull off and could exceed 200 million euros if Salah decides to join the Italian side.

Ronaldo has faced Salah in former club Real Madrid's clash against Liverpool in the Champions League final last May.

Rumour rating: 6/10

It is surprising to see Juventus going for another attacking player, especially since they've already procured the services of someone like Ronaldo to add to the already-stellar attacking talent in the team.

However, given that Ronaldo is now 34, his role at the club isn't exactly long-term. This, coupled with rumours of Paulo Dybala's unhappiness at the club and Douglas Costa's rumoured move to Manchester United, helps make sense of the move, should it happen.

A number of pundits have also pointed out that there is always the possibility of an exit if Liverpool fails to win any major trophies this season as well. And what better club to win trophies at than Juventus?
