Kolo Toure: City have the 'Invincibles' spirit

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - MARCH 15: Kolo Toure of Man City in action during the UEFA Europa League round of 16 second leg match between Manchester City FC and Sporting Lisbon at Etihad Stadium on March 15, 2012 in Manchester, England.

Former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure has stated that the current City squad has the winning spirit of the famous ‘Invincibles’ of Arsenal, who went unbeaten in the entire 2003-04 Premier League campaign, after Gareth Barry struck an injury time winner against Reading at the Etihad on Saturday.

This is not the first time City have come from behind to win a match in the Premier League this season; they came from behind to beat West Brom and Tottenham as well, with substitute Edin Dzeko the unlikely hero.

“It was the same at Arsenal, that team who were the Invincibles,” he said. “We just knew when we were losing or drawing, we could get the crucial goal. We have the same winning mentality here. We never accept drawing or losing a game.

“It’s really important to be calm because we know we can score at any time. We have so many attacking players who are capable of scoring. This time it was a midfielder who scored.”

He added saying,“We just keep believing we will score. The belief comes from the quality players we have. Last season we know about the crucial goals we got late on and this time, Gareth Barry came and did the same.”
