In an amazing turn of events, Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has had his red card that he received against Arsenal overturned by the FA. A statement released by the FA said: ?An Independent Regulatory Commission has today upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal regarding Manchester City?s Vincent Kompany. The defender was dismissed for serious foul play during his side?s match against Arsenal on Sunday 13 January 2013. As a result, Kompany?s three-match suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect.? This will come as a sigh of relief for Roberto Mancini, as it means that the Belgian will not get a three-match suspension as is the case in a straight red card. It may be recalled that referee Mike Dean had deemed Kompany?s challenge on Jack Wilshere as dangerous and worthy of a red card. The Belgian was in tears while walking off the pitch, and shortly after the match posted the following tweets from his official account. First. Massive congrats to our team and fans, great game! Also. No grudges against the referee, I understand the difficulty of the job. :-) — Vincent Kompany (@VincentKompany) January 13, 2013 About the tackle: If the ball is overrun by the opponent and a 50/50 challenge occurs, collision is inevitable. twitter.com/VincentKompany… — Vincent Kompany (@VincentKompany) January 13, 2013 Ultimately I?m a defender: Appeal may work or not. I will never pull out of a challenge, as much as I will never intend to injury a player. — Vincent Kompany (@VincentKompany) January 13, 2013 Kompany is now avaliable to face Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
