Luka Modric to stay

According to manager Julen Lopetegui, there is no way Real Madrid will let go of their star midfielder this summer, especially after losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

"I think the president said it, I don't think there's much more to add. He's made it concise and clear. Luka Modric is an extraordinary player and we're waiting for him with open arms," Lopetegui explained during a press conference.

"I talked to Modric after the great World Cup that he had. We will see him when we get back on August 8 and we'll see if he is available on the 15th in our first key match.

"What I told him is ultimately private but what I feel is that he's a player that I love watching and I'm thrilled to have him and ultimately I think he'll be very happy to be on the team," he went on to add.

Real Madrid target Barcelona starlet

Don Balon have reported that Real Madrid have set their sights on Barcelona youngster Abel Ruiz and are willing to shell out a whopping €100m for the 18-year-old. This, soon after Lionel Messi had advised the youngster that Barcelona are the best club in the world and that there is no place better to continue his development. Ruiz is reportedly considering the move and further developments are awaited.

Fulham want Theo Hernandez

Fulham are set to overtake Real Sociedad in the race for Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez. The player is looking for a move away in order to gain some first-team football and has emerged as a shock target for the newly promoted side. Fulham are looking to rope him in on a season-long loan. Theo made just 13 La Liga appearances for Madrid after arriving at the club on a six-year deal from Atletico.
